Flood Situation Near Ganges Turns Severe

Thousands Evacuated in Varanasi

Ganga’s level surged to 71.66m, above the danger mark of 71.26m. All 84 ghats in Varanasi are submerged. Water entered multiple wards and colonies.

More than 6,583 people displaced from 32 villages and 24 wards. 1,200+ families shifted to safety. Both rural and urban zones are affected.

Kashi Vishwanath Ghat, Assi Ghat, and Manikarnika Ghat are under water. Cremations delayed; rituals shifted to higher grounds. Corpses queued for hours at flooded ghats.

NDRF deployed with 50+ boats in flooded zones. 20 relief camps operating with food, shelter, and medical aid. CM’s Team-11 is overseeing 24×7 relief.

Schools closed till August 6. 328 hectares of crops submerged, affecting over 1,400 farmers. Markets, roads, and public transport severely hit.
