Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated three new Vande Bharat Express trains and announced the upcoming launch of India’s first sleeper version.
The new trains will operate on Bengaluru–Belagavi, Nagpur–Pune, and Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra–Amritsar routes, boosting connectivity and speed.
The Nagpur–Pune Vande Bharat is now India’s longest route, covering 881 km with faster travel times and improved passenger comfort.
The Katra–Amritsar route is expected to boost religious tourism and strengthen trade links in northern India.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that India’s first Vande Bharat Sleeper train will start in September 2025, offering comfortable overnight journeys.
The sleeper train may operate on Bengaluru–Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram–other city routes, serving long-distance travelers.
