Why Royal Enfield halted Himalayan & Guerrilla 450 Production in June
In June 2025, Royal Enfield halted production of Himalayan 450 & Guerrilla 450. The reason: a shortage of rare-earth magnets, key to engine sensors and components.
Rare-earth magnets are used in gear position sensors, alternators, and throttle systems.
Mostly imported from China, any disruption hits production.
Production of Himalayan 450, Guerrilla 450, and Scram 411 faced delays. All these use the new Sherpa 450 engine platform needing those magnets.
June 2025 output dropped to 3,836 units, down from 6,568 a year earlier. This marks a 41% decline in production, as per SIAM data.
China supplies 90%+ of the world’s rare-earth magnets.
A disruption in supply led to temporary unavailability for Royal Enfield.
Royal Enfield resolved the issue by switching to alternate materials. Normal production resumed after June 2025.
